[This event is organised by EUYO, a partner of the European Heritage Hub. The following text is the original description provided by the organisers.]
The first symphonic concert of EUYO’s Spring Tour of Belgium takes place in Bruges, and includes the world premiere of ‘Eutopia’, a tour commission from the outstanding Belgian composer Annelies Van Parys. All events of the Spring Tour are part of the culture programme of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, and this opening concert in Bruges further celebrates an exceptional Belgian musical institution – the Queen Elisabeth Competition. EUYO and Maestro Alexandre Bloch will be joined by no fewer than three QE prizewinners: Timothy Chooi (violin), Hayoung Choi (cello), and Jonathan Fournel (piano), to perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. The programme will conclude with Ravel’s Rhapsodie Espagnol, and Boléro.
