Creative Glass Lab is crucial pillar of the Initiative Creative Glass Serbia that connects glass heritage, creative industries, and handmade glass production in Serbia and rising public awareness on industrial heritage potential, technical and creative sides of glass.

Lab is functioning as a platform for open and participative innovation in exploring redesign, reusing and reinterpreting of locally produced vintage glass pieces, inspired by Paraćin’s glass tradition and by using traditional glass art techniques not only as a tool of art practices, but also for democratization of local glass knowledge and better integration with local community.

Creative Glass LAB event that will be organized as a part of EACD2024 is strongly focused on glass circularity and safeguarding of the traditional glassmaking art techniques through creative practices with young people – high school students from Pomoravlje and open to all interested participants. Inspired by the one century tradition of Paraćin glassmaking, participants will work on learning knowledge on old glass technique etching and painting, combination and application of paracin patters by etching techniques as well as glass painting.

Participants will produce they own glass pieces by application of those techniques and take with them Paracin glass memo (souvenirs produce in Lab) on EACD 2024. In the framework of the LAB, pop-up exhibition and lecture on Paracin glass heritage will be held for participants. Lab is organized in cooperation with Library “Vicentije Rakic”, Paraćin by patronage of the World Craft Council (co-funding by European Union) and it is part of European Days of Art Crafts 2024.
