‘Connecting Civil Society for Heritage’ Conference to take place in Athens

The Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Athens is organising a conference entitled ‘Connecting Civil Society for Heritage’ on 8 – 9 April in Athens, Greece, bringing together civil society organisations and stakeholders from across the Balkans, Turkey and the Caucasus. The event takes place under the framework of the European Heritage Hub pilot project, with the objective of broadening the Hub’s network and impact in these EU neighbouring regions.

Over two days, participants will convene to discuss challenges they face in heritage preservation and promotion. They will also have the opportunity to learn from each other, fostering fruitful cross-border collaborations.

The programme and workshops have been designed in line with the triple transformation – green, social and digital – which is at the core of the European Heritage Hub. This approach aims to enhance the key role of cultural heritage in each of the three aspects and build the capacity of the heritage civil society to become active protagonists of this societal change.

Participants will develop concrete cooperation and cross-border project ideas, as well as collaborate on a strategic framework and action plan to foster more partnerships and bottom-up approaches in the heritage sector.

The programme also includes a networking reception hosted by Haris Doukas, Mayor of Athens, at the City Hall, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with representatives of the local, national and European levels of governance.

Please note that this event is by invitation only. The first session on 8 April, 09:30 – 10:40 EEST, will be live streamed on ELLET’s YouTube channel (see programme for this session below):
